- Re: Provincial and Community Shutdown – Update #15
As you are aware provincial guidelines were put into place for the provincewide shutdown (December 26, 2020 – January 23, 2021):
- ● Indoor organized public events and social gatherings are not permitted during the shutdown except with members of the same household
- ● People should stay home to the fullest extent possible
- ● Trips outside of the home should be limited and only for essential purposes (for example: accessing health care and medication, grocery shopping, child care, walking pets when required, outdoor physical activity, and work where it is not possible to work from home), or emergency purposes.
- ● Travel outside of your region or the province should be limited to only essential purposes.
- ● Practice physical distancing of at least two metres with those outside your household
- ● Wear a face covering when physical distancing is a challenge or where it is mandatory to do so
- ● Face coverings should be tightly fitted to cover the nose, mouth and chin
- ● Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly
- ● Do not go anywhere when you are sick or even feel mildly ill
As a Community we have implemented the provincial guidelines noted above. Further to this we have also shutdown businesses, our child care centre, programing for the month of January and ORRS Store is only open for a limited period of time from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. for our Citizens and Residents within the Hiawatha boundaries.
Travel In/Out of Community:
As we see the number of COVID cases increase daily, we would like to ask that our Citizens who live in the Community only leave for essential service or if there is an emergency. We also ask that our Citizens who live outside the Community to limit your time within the Community and follow all health and safety measures in place.
Elections:
On January 20, 2021 the Hiawatha Elections will be held. This process cannot be deferred at this time, and we strongly encourage everyone to send in their ballots by mail. You can request a ballot from our Electoral Officer, Shelia Coppaway at 705-295-6317.
We wish everyone a Happy New Year and please remember that we have been, and we will continue to get through this challenging time together. It is the strength of us all working together doing those pieces we need to do, that will continue to keep ourselves, our families, our friends, our neighbours safe.
